So Sexy SOLANGE

For the longest time Solange Knowles lived in her big sister Beyonce's shadow; musically, fashion-wise and in terms of overall success. In recent times, she has branched off and developed a distinct style and image of her own, away from that of Beyonce. A couple years back I looked at a young star trying her best to distinguish and establish herself in her career and especially in fashion. Today, I can say with confidence that she has truly found her voice and has created a unique and stylish image that (in my opinion) challenges that of her sister. I give her 10 out of 10 for finally making her mark in the fashion world!

Not THAT new: Trends Filtered Through the Ages

ANDROGYNY: Pioneers such as Marlene Dietrich and Katharine Hepburn, paving the way for new fashion greats such as Alexa Chung, Rihanna and Tilda Swinton.

THE MONROE LOOK: Marilyn Monroe has inspired many celebs with her platinum blonde hair, red lip and sexy cat-eye.

THE TURBAN: Definitely not a NEW trend... It has been around since the 1930, 40's and 50's. First seen by actresses such as Greta Garbo and Joan Crawford

THE VERONICA LAKE HAIR-DO: Sported by celebs all over the globe, from Blake Lively to Janet Jackson.

INFAMOUS CAT-EYE: This trend is one that has been around for decades and will live on for decades more to come.

Blast From the Past: OLD HOLLYWOOD GLAMOUR

(From top to bottom: Vintage Givenchy, Grace Kelly, Katharine Hepburn, Marylin Monroe, Marlene Dietrich, Audrey Hepburn in Vintage Givenchy, Elizabeth Taylor). Old Hollywood embodies the true essence of glamour, poise and elegance. Its satisfying to see how glamour has been past down from decade to decade, and still influences the new generation of Silver Screen stars.
